Creation Evolution

Additional Information

Creationism is a vital part of the Christian Faith. Jesus asked, "Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning... ?" Matthew 19:4. So, what took place in the beginning? Can science tell us without using theories what happened? Actually, the question is outside of the realm of empirical science since the beginning is not observable or reproducible. But there is plenty of circumstantial evidence with which to cross examine the two theories of origins, creation and evolution. These discussions by qualified representatives in their respective fields present scientific evidences on the origin of the universe, life, and living things, to help enlighten the public and enable one to make an educated decision. Did God create or did man and everything else evolve? In addition to the scientific debates, the Olmsted discussion centered on the biblical evidence for creation versus theistic evolution.

Biography of Andy McIntosh, DSC, FIMA, C.MATH, FINSTE, CENG, FINSTP, MIGEM, FRAES

Andy McIntosh is currently a visiting research professor in Thermodynamics and Combustion Theory at the University of Leeds, and an adjunct Professor at the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering. Mississippi State University, Starkville, USA. He has lectured and researched in these fields for over 30 years with a PhD in combustion theory from the aerodynamics department of what was then Cranfield Institute of Technology (now Cranfield University). He has a DSc in Applied Mathematics from the University of Wales and worked for a number of years at the Royal Aircraft Establishment, is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, the Institute of Energy, the Institute of Physics and the Royal Aeronautical Society. A chartered mathematician and engineer, and author of over 195 papers and articles, his research has been in combustion in fluids and solids. His work has also included investigations into the fundamental link between thermodynamics and information, and in the last few years he has been involved in research in the area of biomimetics where the minute combustion chamber of the bombardier beetle has inspired a patented novel spray technology with applications to fuel injectors, pharmaceutical sprays, fire extinguishers and aerosols. This research was awarded the 2010 Times Higher Educational award for the Outstanding Contribution to Innovation and Technology.

Gish-Pigliucci Creation Evolution Debate II, December 1, 2000

Creation/Evolution Debate

Dr. Duane T. Gish Vs. Dr. Massimo Pigliucci

Church of Christ at Mountain View

December 1, 2000

Dr. Gish (creation proponent) is Vice President of the Institute for Creation Research, Ph. D. in Biochemistry from U.Cal-Berkeley. He worked 18 years with the Upjohn Pharmaceutical Co., and has collaborated with two Nobel prize-winners. He has debated evolution over 200 times, including those held with professors of the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, George Mason, and Liberty.

Dr. Pigliucci (evolution proponent) is Associate Professor of Botany and Ecology at the University of Tennessee. He has two earned doctorates from the University of Ferara (Italy) and the University of Connecticut. He has been awarded the “Dobzhansky Prize” bestowed by the Society for the Study of Evolution.

Both scientists are looking forward to a rematch at the Mtn. View Auditorium, Church of Christ at Mountain View, in Winchester, Dec. 1, 2000. Over 1,000 people attended last year’s debate, (May 20, 1999) which was their third encounter. Since that time, they have met once more in Mobile, AL.
